XL Design Professional Program Overview
XL Design Professional carries forward the founding
principles of DPIC, dedicated to creating a specialized
professional liability program that not only covers
professional liability risks through insurance, but
minimizes those liabilities through active risk management
and expert claims service. The following three principles
were true innovations in professional liability in the
1970s and continue to make us the leader in these areas:
- Professionals can reduce liability exposures and
insurance premiums through innovative loss prevention
and risk management techniques.
- When disputes do occur, they can often be resolved
amicably, without litigation and without destroying
business relationships.
- Specialized, knowledgeable insurance agents can
and must serve as valuable business partners to our
clients.
Today, XL Design Professional's highly specialized
team of insurance professionals and network of knowledgeable,
independent agents are on a mission to provide innovative,
client-driven products and excellent policyholder services.
Client Service
XL Design Professional's exclusive agency force and
regional offices are dedicated to meeting the unique
loss prevention and risk management needs of specific
groups of clients:
XL Design Professional 's extensive library of loss
prevention publications provides ready resources for
all its insureds.
Loss Prevention and Education
XL Design Professional is convinced that professionals
who are knowledgeable about liability exposures and
who use good risk management techniques are in a better
position to prevent losses and mitigate claims. As such,
we reward our eligible policyholders — through
premium credits of up to 10 percent per year —
for taking the time and effort to educate their employees
through the successful completion of our courses.
XL Design Professional’s Professional Liability
Education Program (PLEP) offers courses — exclusively
to policyholders — that are designed to make you
aware of where the risks lie, give you the tools and
tactics to address those risks, and help you find meaningful
ways to apply what you’ve learned in your firm.
Our programs have the added benefit of providing continuing
education units (many of them Health, Safety and Welfare
qualified) that can help you meet your license requirements.
Claims Handling and Dispute Resolution
Expert claims professionals operate out of five regional
offices and a number of satellite offices. XL Design
Professional's "Early Warning Program" provides
loss prevention services before a formal claim is made,
often at no charge to the policyholder's deductible
or limit. And our "Mediation Works!" program
reimburses policyholders up to 75% of their deductible
when a dispute is resolved through formal mediation.
Specialized Underwriting
Our highly trained underwriters operate from five regional
offices so they can grasp the unique risk and insurance
issues associated with the specific regions and client
groups they serve.
Special Programs
XL Design Professional has developed an array of tailored
programs to meet special needs:
- DPRCG,
Design Professionals Risk Control Group, is a risk
purchasing group for large design firms to minimize
and stabilize the cost of professional liability insurance.
- XL Design Professional's Small Firm Program that
offers low-cost coverage for architectural and engineering
firms with annual fees up to $500,000.
